The date: November 19, 2026 — and this time it's real
After years of waiting, Rockstar has locked Grand Theft Auto VI to Thursday, November 19, 2026. The game was revealed in December 2023 with a "2025" window, pushed to May 26, 2026, then delayed again to November. Many feared a third delay — but in late August 2026, Rockstar North's head of development said it plainly: "It will be released on time." Parent company Take-Two even built its financial guidance on that date with "a high degree of confidence". In other words: clear your evening on November 19.
Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series only
GTA 6 launches exclusively on PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Series S. No PS4, no Xbox One — and crucially, no PC at launch. Rockstar is following its playbook: GTA 5 hit PC a year and a half after consoles. PC players will have to wait… or finally buy that console.
Price and the two editions
Rockstar settled the "$100 games" debate with just two editions:
- Standard Edition — $79.99: the full game.
- Ultimate Edition — $99.99: the game plus an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons and outfits woven through the whole adventure.
One detail that surprised everyone: the boxed version contains a download code, not a disc. Plan for storage space and a solid connection on launch day.
Pre-orders: the Vice City bonus
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 across the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Rockstar Store and retailers. Any purchase made before November 20, 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack — vehicles and outfits inspired by the original 2002 Vice City. A perfect wink, because…
Vice City, Jason and Lucia: what we know about the game
GTA 6 takes us to the state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida, with Vice City as its crown jewel. We'll play a Bonnie & Clyde-style duo: Jason and Lucia — the first playable duo in series history, and Lucia is the first female lead of a modern GTA. The trailers showed a city of insane density: packed beaches, parody social networks, swamps, street races… the most alive world Rockstar has ever built.

Could GTA 6 be delayed again? Nothing is impossible, but every signal (Rockstar, Take-Two, pre-orders) points to November 19.
Will GTA 6 come to PC? Not at launch. If Rockstar follows its usual pattern, expect a year or more.
Do I need a PS5 Pro? No — a base PS5 or a Series S will run the game. The Pro simply offers the best console visuals.
